OUTINGS
The annual outing, usually in May, started as a day visit to a UK destination. These were to places of interest such as Chatham Historic Dockyard, Cambridge, and Chartwell, the family home of Winston Churchill.
When the Channel Tunnel opened it allowed us a day visit to destinations on the near continent (and an opportunity to visit the "duty free" shops). These included Bruges, Ghent, Arras, Le Touquet, Ostend and Lille.
In latter years however, this has developed into a four day three night stay starting with a memorable visit to Cardiff. Then followed LLandudno, Carmarthen, Beaumaris, Llangollen and this year to South Wales with visits to the Brecon Beacons, Swansea and the Gower.
